We look for lively, concise writing that is descriptive and reflective. Avoid jargon, rhetoric or lengthy academic analysis. Fees are based on complexity and length.

Magazine Articles
Our magazine showcases innovative tolerance initiatives in schools across the country. There are three types of articles:

  • Activity Exchange, concise accounts of replicable projects or activities,
    250-500 words;
  • Personal Essays, first-person reflections by teachers, students or parents,
    400-800 words; and
  • Features, fully developed school-based narratives, 1,000-3,000 words.

Classroom Activities
Classroom activities are published online and average about 1,000 words.
Successful submissions:

  • Concern tolerance or related topics;
  • Tie into traditional academic subject areas;
  • Specify grade level;
  • Do not require purchasing costly materials; and
  • Can be implemented in one or two class periods.

News Stories
News stories range from 400-800 words, and:

  • Explore school or district responses to national educational issues;
  • Explore teacher-based responses to issues affecting a local school or district;
  • Provide a personal perspective on educational issues; and/or
  • Relay objective, statistical analyses of tolerance issues that impact school communities.
